Nige 54 - The Column

December 2006

Well 2006 has certainly been a fun year. What started as a random appearance on Channel 7's Sunrise program in late 2005 has evolved into a year of regular media appearances on TV, radio, magazines and even an international dating conference! From my numerous appearances as the resident dating coach on Fox FM's national 'Late Date Show' to articles in mX Newspaper, interviews on Nova Fm with Hughesy & Kate, two more Sunrise appearances, a major feature in Cosmopolitan Magazine and of course my appearance as an invited guest at Cliff Lists Convention 2006 held in Montreal Canada...man, I am nearly out of breath. Nearly, but not quite.

I must tell you that I loved every minute and while it sounds like I was very busy in 2006, I am more than ready to handle a schedule ten times more demanding. Hint, hint radio and television producers. Ha! But seriously most of the things that have happened to me after the release of AROUND THE WORLD IN 80 BABES! over two years ago has been a fabulous bonus and a bundle of amazing opportunities where I hope my words of wisdom are having an impact on people's dating and relationships lifestyle - and ultimately their lives as a whole.

But of course, none of this would be possible without the support of all of you and for that, I thank you. I am truly thankful for the many emails and messages of support I have received throughout the year and that is what makes this gig - no matter how long it lasts - so worthwhile. My thanks also extend to those who, try as they might, attempt to discredit me and to those of you out there in this group - please keep doing it! The more attention and energy you spend on me, the more of a profile you give me and as a very prominent radio producer said to me recently, 'Nige, having people who are passionate about hating you is often just as important as having those who are passionate about supporting you.'

So what will 2007 bring? Well in this kind of industry the unfortunate answer is 'who knows'. I can plan, visualise and set goals for what I want and what I believe I can contribute, however at the start of 2006 I never could have predicted any of the things that materialised throughout the year, so how do you explain that? Well, maybe I can, but I don't think we have enough room to explain 'the secret' to my modest success in 2006 in this particular column, so maybe next time. Heh heh heh! Whichever the case I am totally pumped for an action packed 2007 but with so much unpredictability in an industry like this I guess 'we'll just see what happens' (I am getting better at playing things down don't you think?)

Most importantly, the bottom line is that while I am stilling having fun, making a difference, providing an alternative and rocking your world, Nige 54 will just keep rolling on and climbing upwards.

Have a great Christmas everyone, thanks again for your support and I hope we all see much more of each other in 2007.

Best Wishes,
Nige 54

"THE 2006 NIGE 54 AWARDS - THE NIGESTERS"

Ladies and Gentlemen,

Welcome to the third annual presentation of "The 2006 Nige 54 Awards" otherwise known as "The Nigesters".

You should know by now what 'The Nigesters' are all about and if not then too bad (or just check the criteria outlined over the last couple of years!)

So without further delay and for the third year running, we have much pleasure in awarding 'The Nigesters' to the following winners:

Best Party Location: Hermosa Pier, Los Angeles. Even though Sharkeez has burnt down I had the pleasure of partying all throughout Hermosa Pier in the middle of the American summer this year. It was my fourth trip to this part of the world in the last five years and once again it delivered to an amazing extent.

Best Beach: Fiji was my last stopover following my 40 day 40 night extravaganza of LA, Montreal, Rhode Island, Boston, Ottawa, Toronto and LA again before spending three nights in beautiful Fiji. The beaches out on the islands were just spectacular. However, my opinion could be biased as a result of the copious amounts of free alcohol and the group of Canadian college chicks who joined me to celebrate my last day in Fiji...or were they high school chicks?! ;-) Either way, it was the kind of 'daytime action' that is the reason I thank the heavens for the fun filled and sexually adventurous attitudes expressed by hot Canadian babes on holidays. Game on!

Best Bar: Take your pick along Hermosa Pier during the summer time while watching the World Cup with a Bud Light in one hand and hot American babe in the other. How good can it get?

Best Nightclub: There were a couple of nightclubs I visited in Montreal, Canada that were pretty awesome and they deserve special mention...I just wish I could remember their names! But it matters not, as considering I recently met a very special babe at this particular location, Flash Friday's at Boutique has re-gained the title they lost last year. Possibly the best 80s night on the planet.

Best Restaurant: A new category due to the fact that this is the exact place that my summer romance began - the Ocean Park Omelette Parlor in Santa Monica, Los Angeles. It has the classic bench top service, wonderful staff and the best omelettes ever made. Heaven. Also helps when you are dining with a goddess and for a more detailed description of this adventure check out the 'the media' section and click straight to my interview on August 18th with Hughesy & Kate on Nova Fm. Giddiup!

Best Time to Get Action: Summer time in anytown U.S.A. Simply the best.

Best Sports Team: The West Coast Eagles in the AFL. The 2006 premiers were unstoppable and they know it. Untouchable and they know it. Totally arrogant and they know it! And they still kept on winning!! Are these guys on drugs? Whichever the case look out for more of the same in 2007.

Worst Sports Team: The English cricket team. Legends in 2005, major losers in 2006 as they are on track to lose The Ashes 5-0!

Best Film: Borat. I have perhaps never laughed so hard in my life. Just hilarious and I am yet to meet anyone who disagrees.

Best Radio Show: The Tom Leykis Show broadcast on 97.1 FREE FM in Los Angeles and syndicated all throughout the U.S.A. If you want to hear the best, most entertaining and highly controversial talk show host of all time, then check out Tom Leykis. Australia is about 5 years away from being ready for a guy like this - but then again, we will ever be?

Best T.V. Show: The clear cut winner here is Entourage. Just so awesome and watching Season Three in LA six months before it would be hitting our screens in Australia was pretty special. Prison Break also gets an honourable mention as I can not wait for Season Two - I am Michael Scofield!

Best Actor: Look, even though we all hate Tom Cruise right now due to his couch jumping Scientology bullcrap, I must say that after watching Mission Impossible 3 I am nearly back on the Tom Cruise band wagon...ok, let's face it, I'm back on! Also, at Cliff's List Convention 2006 held in Montreal, Canada I was able to live a dream by doing a similar performance to Tom Cruise's character in 'Magnolia'. Awesome. Thanks Tom, your character was my inspiration.

Babe of the Year: Scarlett Johansson. She's knocked off Jessica Simpson as Nick Lachey has so come out the winner in that relationship. Who would have thought Nick could be SO the man? But back to you Scarlett...yes, we love you. But who doesn't?

Best Crackwhore: We would love to give this award to Britney Spears for the simple fact that she thought it would be a good idea to wear no underwear and go partying with Paris Hilton. But fortunately for Britney, Australia's own Lara Bingle takes out this award in 2006 for her pathetic attempt at covering up her alleged affair with Carlton full forward Brendan Fevola. Lara, next time try and remember that when you tell lies that we do live in a world of technology so things like voicemails and text messages might just expose you for the attention seeking bimbo that you are. Heh heh heh!

Biggest Pretender: K-Fed aka Kevin Federline. Besides the many reasons we can think of, the fact that Britney dumped him via text is quite spectacular. But now good old K-Fed is taking the word 'loser' to a whole new level by trying his hand at wrestling. I thought his appearance in the WWE was some kind of mistake, but it was only when this guy started to antagonise WWE Champ John Cena that K-Fed really showed us how many brain cells he is lacking. Thankfully John Cena beat his ass without raising a sweat.

Worst Fashion Sense: There was going to be a new winner in this category, but just before Christmas I went to a bar and saw it again...a guy wearing a PINK POLO!!! Bottom line, it's just gay.

Best Song: 'Don't Stop Believin' by Journey. I only discovered this song this year thanks to the second season of Laguna Beach even though it was released about 20 years ago! 'Just a small town girl, livin' in a lonely world...'

Best Music Video: 'U & Ur Hand' by Pink. Totally rocks and a great message to the overly macho loser guys out there with no personality.

Best Band: Can 'The 12th Man' be considered a band? I say YES because his new album 'Boned' is non-stop laughter multiplied by a factor of ten!

Best Magazine: Playboy. Hef, thank-you for your letter this year by the way - I have it framed above my desk.

Best Book: 'The Other Hollywood: The Uncensored Oral History of the Porn Film Industry' by Legs McNeil & Jennifer Osborne. Fascinating, disturbing, brilliant.

Best Website: MY SPACE. Who else is addicted? Hit me up at www.myspace.com/nige54

Now we move on to the two platinum coated 'Nigesters' for 2006.

The Most Outstanding Performance in a Celebrity Sex Video: Unfortunately, like 2005, 2006 only presented us with various rumours rather than an actual celebrity sex video. But nevertheless, we at NIGE54.COM have it on good authority that a Britney & K-Fed video actually exists (hey, she had two kids with the guy so clearly he can talk her into anything!) So it is probably just a matter of time and money before we will be seeing a whole lot more of Britney. Woohoo!

The 2006 Errol Flynn Lifetime Achievement Award:

This year's most prestigious Award has been won by a man who in the late 80s and early 90s dated women such as Erika Eleniak, Nicole Eggert, Natalie Raitano, Nicolette Sheridan, Brooke Shields, Denise Richards, Heather Locklear and was engaged not once but TWICE to Pamela Anderson! This man's success with women also led him being inducted into The Man Show Hall of Fame on July 21, 1999 so it goes without saying that a man of this caliber was always going to win a Nigester, we just wanted to allow the guy to age at least past forty so that the rest of us felt we still had a chance to match his accomplishments - YEAH RIGHT!

Ladies and Gentlemen, the winner of the 2006 Errol Flynn Lifetime Achievement Award is...Mr. Scott Baio.

Mr. Baio, you truly were the king. But maybe if you had put as much energy into your acting career as you did your women then perhaps...HA HA...just kidding champ! Mate, we are totally in awe of your accomplishments over here at NIGE54.COM but having heard that you are about to release a book entitled 'Baio Watch: How I Dated and Loved Hollywood's Most Beautiful Women and Ended Up Alone' raises some concerns that you may have missed out on finding true love...but then we re-read your resume - Erika Eleniak, Nicole Eggert, Natalie Raitano, Nicolette Sheridan, Brooke Shields, Denise Richards, Heather Locklear, Pamela Anderson - and honestly, if you are now alone, who cares?!

In a word - OUTSTANDING.
